Groups offer a unique platform to gain valuable insights and practical tips from others facing similar challenges. By actively participating, you can enhance your knowledge and explore effective strategies to maintain an active and independent lifestyle.

Our organization sponsors a network of osteoporosis support groups nationwide. The benefits of joining a group may include:

  • Access to comprehensive information on the disease and discussions about available treatments

  • Stay updated with the latest developments in osteoporosis research and management

  • Develop effective coping mechanisms by learning from others' experiences

  • Exchange valuable information on local community resources

  • Identify healthcare providers specializing in osteoporosis care

  • Enhance mental and physical well-being through shared experiences

  • Gain inspiration and motivation from fellow group members

Starting a Support Group

If there isn't a group in your area, consider starting one. We provide resources and support for individuals interested in leading a new group, including healthcare professionals and those living with osteoporosis.

To start a new support group, please complete the downloadable Support Group Application form. If you have any questions or need guidance on starting a group, our BHOF Support Group coordinator, Lindsey West, is available as a resource and can be contacted by phone at 703-647-3034 or via email at lwest@bonehealthandosteopororisis.org.

Support group meetings often include educational sessions and guest speakers, offering members an opportunity to expand their knowledge base. Additionally, physical activities such as exercise can be incorporated into meetings to promote overall health and well-being. Meetings can be held monthly, quarterly, or as per the group's preference.
