Joining us for this month’s Steps to Strong Bones are Sarah Avery and Michaela Smith. Sarah Avery is a Doctor of Physical Therapy, Yoga Therapist, and a 200-hour Yoga Alliance Certified Teacher. She created the first strength training for osteoporosis program of its kind in 2019 and has successfully helped over 100 patients maintain or improve bone density at her clinic. Michaela Smith is a Yoga Medicine Therapeutic Specialist, a NASM-certified personal trainer, Nutritional Therapy Practitioner and is the Osteoporosis Program Director at Kaari Prehab. Michaela is passionate about offering a safe and sustainable practice, built around her clients' individual needs.

The presentation will focus on practical tips for strength training for osteoporosis. This session will demystify the basic principles of strength training for bone density. We'll cover topics including why certain movements are better than others at increasing bone density and how to safely implement them even with osteoporosis. You’ll leave this session with clear, actionable information on how to start strength training your way to stronger bones!
