An empowering aspect of Osteoporosis Awareness and Prevention Month was a weekly series of webinars with something for everyone – from younger kids to teens to adults and the elderly. Below are recordings of these energizing and empowering online events.
Free Webinar: De-Stressing in Nature for Bone Health
When you first learn that you have osteoporosis, you may experience stress and anxiety. If this is the case, it’s important that you try to manage these feelings and not allow osteoporosis to interfere with your regular activities. Spending time in nature can help relieve stress and anxiety, improve your mood, and boost feelings of happiness and wellbeing. Webinar attendees will learn more about how to de-stress in nature and the outdoors with Dr. Matt Weinburke. Participants will also engage in a mindfulness-guided imagery exercise with a nature setting.
Get Moving and "Do More, Safely" to Maximize Bone Health
My name is Rodrigo J. Valderrábano and I am an Endocrinologist and Assistant Professor of Medicine at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School. As a skinny teenager growing up in Puerto Rico, I discovered resistance exercise as a way of building up my physical capacity and confidence. Routine exercise became part of my way of life, but it was not until my endocrinology training at Stanford University that I realized how important it could be for healthy aging and prevention of diseases such as osteoporosis.
